JLM is happy to receive donations of money or books. Because of its status as a 501(c)(3) entity, donations are normally deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes. A tax advisor should be consulted for details regarding substantial contributions. JLM will express it's appreciation for donations of $100 or more with a memento. We will be happy to name a building for a contributor of $1 million. For donations of books JLM will gladly provide a receipt. Valuation for tax purposes must be done by the donor. Most books older than 1900 will be retained in the permanent collection, however due to space limitations JLM retains the right to dispose of donated books which are duplicates of existing holdings or that for other reasons are unsuitable for permanent retention. Johnson Library and Museum is a not-for-profit corporation organized under
Missouri law. It is recognized by the IRS as a 50l(c)(3) charity. In accord with IRS rules its financial records are available for public inspection at its office, located at
220 Main Street in Osceola, Missouri, phone
